Children built foundational skills, trusting relationships, and self-esteem at YMCA Child Development Centers and Preschool. "I love the focus on social-emotional health. It has prepared my older kids for school far more than anything else. The staff are amazing and make me feel like I have a partner in my parenting. It's so clear they love my kids and take their care seriously." -Pre-school Parent
ymca-child-care
A nurturing environment was created for children to learn, grow, and develop social skills through affordable before- and after-school child care programs. "In the nearly five years of enrollment, my daughter has grown to love it more and more. The activities engage and teach through meaningful themes with disguised learning." -Christina
ymca-children-sports
Kids built confidence, skills, and teamwork in a fun and active environment through youth sports. "As the parent of a kid who is near the bottom of the soccer talent pool (and I say that lovingly) I appreciate that he can participate, play, and feel a part of a team where competitiveness is not the end-all goal. I am grateful for the opportunity to let my kid learn about a sport, move his body, socialize, and have fun." -Youth Soccer Parent
ymca-summer-day-camp
Day camps across Greater Louisville provided a safe and fun place for children to try new activities and explore the outdoors. "I love that the staff cares so much about my child and she is making good memories and friends. She is in a safe environment and we truly appreciate the camp and team that they have." -Parent
ymca-camp-piomingo
Kids attended overnight camps to build character, experience nature, and develop as leaders. "The counselors are very well trained and focused on the happiness, safety, and development of the campers. I also love that it's rustic but has some nice amenities (like the swimming pool)." -Camp Piomingo Parent
ymca-teen-program

Teens participated in programs such as Y Love Notes, Best Buy Teen Tech Center, Leaders Club, KUNA, and Woman Up Teen Outreach.

Diversity, Equity, &
Inclusion

The YMCA of Greater Louisville is committed to nurturing a culture in which diversity and inclusion are integrated into our everyday operations. We will actively seek to establish a strong global community by equipping knowledgeable leaders and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment in which all can thrive and reach their fullest potential.

YMCA Staff Demographics

The YMCA of Greater Louisville has a DEI score of 67, scoring higher than 67% of organizations, an increase of 8 points since 2021. Benchmarks are based on organizations from all industries, geographies, and sizes.

In 2022, the YMCA of Greater Louisville began Employee Resource Groups for Y staff to network, engage in mentoring, share knowledge and experiences, participate in professional development, and enhance leadership skills.

African American Resource Network provides leadership development, career and personal development, networking, training and mentoring for African Americans. The network also helps to create an equitable and anti-racist organization by raising awareness of issues and concerns related to bias, microaggressions, and racism, while providing recommendations to create more equitable work climate and culture.

Emerging Leaders Resource Network exists to deepen the commitment, connection, and passion that next generation leaders have for the Y movement. This group is designed to sustain and strengthen the legacy of the YMCA, ensuring that future generations will continue to be inspired to serve through the Y.

LGBTQIA Resource Network provides a safe forum and network for LGBTQIA staff and volunteers, professional development, training and mentoring. The network increases awareness about issues concerning lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer and intersex staff and volunteer leaders while providing recommendations to create a more equitable work climate and culture.

Multicultural Leaders Resource Network creates a more inclusive environment by bringing together individuals of all cultural backgrounds, races, and ethnicities for career and personal development, networking, training, and mentoring. The network helps to create an anti-racist organization by raising awareness of issues and concerns related to bias, microaggressions, and racism, while providing recommendations to create a more equitable work climate and culture.

The Women’s Leadership Resource Network is created to provide female-identified Y professionals with career and personal development, networking, training and mentoring. The network also helps to create a more inclusive organization by raising awareness of inequities and biases that affect women in the workplace, while providing recommendations to create a more equitable work climate and culture.
